Which MDM Solution is Right For You?
Which MDM Solution is Right For You?For iPhone applications, device management and app state are an integral part of a successful mobile app delivery strategy. In the past few years, the mobile application market has witnessed exponential growth as well as exponential development as mobile device users and their devices have increased at a startling rate.Application market growth is directly correlated to the device. There are a number of different factors that have contributed to this increase, including various mobile applications, device utilization, OS availability, platform type, OS usage and so on. Furthermore, iOS and Android platform availability has a direct bearing on device management. As the mobile application market continues to grow in popularity, a majority of the companies developing mobile applications have focused their energies to ensure that their applications run smoothly on mobile devices. This has given rise to the need for mobile device management (MDM) softwar e solutions. There are various types of mobile device management solutions available today. However, while there are several providers in the market offering MDM solutions, it is still imperative to conduct a thorough due diligence prior to choosing one. This is because of the fact that not all MDM solutions offered by different providers and vendors are compatible with different platforms. There are two types of MDM solutions in the market today namely: Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) and Device Manager (DM). The difference between these two is basically on how they manage an app's application state.ALM is usually dependent on the device manufacturers' SD card and hardware configuration details while DM is a piece of software or an app that monitors the state of the app on the mobile device. It does this by first locking the app on the device and only allowing access to certain tasks when certain user actions have been taken.ALM also records app state that has been locked so a s to preserve it, while DM is not dependent on such things. However, ALM and DM do share some common features.Among these features is the fact that both are able to log the actions performed by the user and record the app's application package, application version, app installation location, application information and other relevant details for future reference. In addition, both technologies use a similar database architecture for storage.
